As we celebrate another Democracy Day, it also affords me another golden opportunity to re-emphasize the need for all of us leaders to build consensus and promote better understanding in our Country.
I have said this in time past and will continue to say it; that the times we are in call for fence-mending, bridge-building and repairing of bridges that appear to have been broken down.
That is the only way we can better appreciate the progress we have made as a democracy and the only way we can sustain the democratic structures we have all labored to put in place.
Let me use this opportunity to equally sound a note of caution to some of our brothers and even leaders who appeared to be using the language of war, instead of the language of politics and persuasion which are critical to the peace, stability and progress that we are in dare need of, in our nation at this time.
As we celebrate 14 years of unbroken civilian rule, let us continue to work for the peace and unity of our nation.
Let us rally round and support Mr. President and all our leaders in their quest to build a new Nigeria of our collective dreams and aspirations.
Long Live Our Democracy!
Long Live Bayelsa State!!
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria!!!
Truely Bayelsa state is roads and bridges for its younger off springs.
